Show Me The Law!

"Every once in a while I come across a good video that helps explain what I've known for years but find it very difficult to explain without hostile or judgmental reactions from friends and family. If you accept my challenge to view this video you will learn of a little piece of history you were probably not aware of. (For those of you who already know this please excuse this preamble.) A few years ago Galen (Whitey) Harold was charged with willful failure to file and income tax return. His reply from the very beginning was, "Show me the law." Well, the IRS never showed him the law and Mr. Harold went to his jury trial asking the same question. This video is a public forum at the National Press Club. One of the jurors is about to be introduced to describe what happened in that trial and in the jury deliberation. It is priceless!"

Because the judicial system is either corrupt/ignorant and the IRS is a bully! (PLUS most people are "patriotic" [stupid/blindly obedient] and don't believe that our sacred government would do such oppressive things.)

IRS is a private corporation, which serves as a collection agent for Federal Reserve, another private corporation, which LOANS money to the US government at HIGH rates of interest on the surface to fund our necessary government functions. HOWEVER - gas tax, cigarette tax, all excise taxes very easily fund the basics such as education, health/welfare, normal military, etc.

The agencies are all plump and corrupt, each dollar that goes in comes back as -5 cents due to waste, excessive executive pay, corruption.

My solution is all states secede from the union, take care of our communities locally with local money and resources and tell the federal government they are fired.

Look up the history of the corrupt federal reserve system 1913 - wealthy private bankers took over the US financial system

"My solution is all states secede from the union, take care of our communities locally with local money and resources and tell the federal government they are fired. " This statement suggests that the speaker lacks the ability to think in a rational, intelligent manner.

"IRS is a private corporation." Who are the stockholders in this private corporation?

Are you opposed to taxes based upon income or just opposed to paying toward the cost of government?

Your comments and questions are far too "blind/obedient" for me to even take the time to respond.

Watch the video - then show me the law!

Sorry. My questions were not intended to challenge you. I was interested in learning about your opinions on this subject. I gather from your reply that you do not have any opinions, only a video.

Quilligrapher,

I LOVE the video, because it says it all. My personal beliefs are that we are NOT liable for federal income taxes and that the various excise taxes - tobacco, gas, telepone, alcohol, etc are sufficient to fund the basic government services. I also believe that our government is corrupt and wasteful, ignores the citizens' voices and has become a good old boy system.  We can fund all of our community needs locally and take back our power.

Thanks for your reply. I can certainly agree with you in some areas. However, I think it a bit unfair to place all of the tax burden on my driving, drinking, smoking, telephone-using, theater-going neighbors while I sit in my smokeless, garage-free, sober, high-rise reading second hand books. As for government waste and corruption, that is a totally different issue and one not related to the governments right under the constitution to levy taxes. The social contract between the government and the citizenry may not always be fair and balanced but it does work well in our republic. Many citizens of Europe and parts of the third world would love to exchange their income tax rates with ours. Therefore, I am willing to accept our income tax system with its flaws and inequities, and without having to see the statute, as an acceptable means to an end.
